Gabrielle Union relaunched her line of hair care products, Flawless by Gabrielle Union, this summer, and as someone who’s always on the lookout for the best conditioners, I was excited to see what she had to offer. I attended a really fun virtual media event where I learned about her own hair care journey and why it was important for her to create a line that could stand by enriching products specifically made to build or maintain black hair HEALTH. Here are a few of the things I love about the line.
Created out of her need to restore her own hair health
Gabrielle was very candid about her experience with extreme hair loss and trying several products that weren’t made for Black hair and didn’t help regrow her hair. As someone who has experienced dramatic hair loss/baldness, I know this trauma very well. There are very few products that help, and many will only make it worse (more on this topic in a future blog). So I believe her when she says she is careful about what she puts in her hair now. The line was created with her stylist and friend, Larry Sims, to ensure the foundation of the products are based in building and maintaining health.
Wide range of rich, hydrating products
All of the products are deeply hydrating, and made for a variety of hairstyles, starting with the Hydrating Shampoo. I go back and forth between wearing my hair curly and straight, and found that there are products on the line I can use for either style. The Detangling Leave-in Conditioner and Restoring Exotic Hair Oil Treatment are my go-to products when I where my hair curly, and I love the Shine Enhancing Heat Protection Spray when I need to put heat on my hair for straight styles.
Deep conditioning feel, in only three minutes
This conditioner deserves a special shout out. There’s not much I expect from a quick conditioning treatment in the shower. But I must say that after using this 3-minute Restoring Hair Conditioner, my hair felt like I just had a steam treatment at a salon in a matter of minutes. This product has been sold out around the launch, so I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.

I was surprised to see the price point for the entire range of products is around $10.

As someone who buys everything through Amazon to take full advantage of quick shipping and my Prime membership, I still know that it’s not always the best place to buy some skin or hair care products if you are not sure of the distributor. Hey Tam! After years of suffering from alopecia I too am well aware of the struggle. Over the years it was hard to find products that my hair really loved so I started making my own. However, lately I’ve been getting the itch to straighten my hair so I’d be interested in giving the conditioner & heat protectant a try. So far there has only been 1 conditioner that I’ve purchased that has become my holy grail – Camille Rose Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Mask. It is available at Target if you ever feel inclined to give it a try.
