Preeclampsia is a high risk condition during pregnancy that more deeply impacts Black women (and women with auto-immune diseases like lupus) while pregnant. It can cause high blood pressure, abnormal development of the placenta and high levels of protein in the urine. It’s risky because if left untreated, it can cause preterm labor, low birth weight and damage to a baby’s organs.
One of the many natural ways to help prevent preeclampsia is through staying hydrated to balance sodium levels in your body to avoid dehydration. There are so many things I can’t control during pregnancy, but this is one thing I can commit to doing for myself and my baby.
