Grace has been a very centering word for me, shaping how I try to move through life. It’s appreciating the grace that others give to me, and sending that back out into the world. Living with grace means that no matter what happens in life, whatever I may experience, it helps me evolve and welcome more strength, love, light and peace in my life. That’s what I’m working on at least.
Grapes are a close second in my life. Everyone has a comfort food, and I choose grapes. Bad day? Have a cold or headache? Hear some sad news? People are working that LAST nerve? A bowl of red seedless grapes just DO IT for me. Instant mood lifter. I can’t explain it, but I love them and they are vital to my happiness. And grapes are the base for my favorite beverage (Cabernet, hey!), so there’s just no end to how grapes punctuate so many moments in my life.
I’m a Midwest-raised, DC-living newlywed, toddler mom, bonus mom and lover of nonprofits doing good, vineyards and beaches, HBCUs and homecomings (#hampton), orangetheory and wine. Musically, I equally love Beyonce, Gucci Mane, Shirley Caesar, the old Kanye, Gavin DeGraw and Diddy. BUT, Diana Ross vs. everybody, of course.
Grace and Grapes is a lifestyle blog that encourages conversations about self-care, current events, relationships, motherhood, DC adventures, recipes and general musings of the day.
Today, the world is in such turmoil as we are impacted by COVID-19 AND deep-seeded structural racism, both devastating to the black community, and that needs to be addressed as well. While we have reason to be angry or heartbroken by the current reality, Grace and Grapes is focused on finding ways to balance that valid emotion with a deep feeling of hope that we can make progress and get through it together. It’s having tough conversations balanced with much needed reprieves as often as our spirits require.
Grace and Grapes is sharing those sincere thoughts, questions and inspiration, and seeking that balance, all to help us all move with grace and support others in doing the same along the way.
I am sharing all about the things I enjoy, new stuff I’m trying and the thoughts I’m pondering, with grace and grapes.
